How homeopathy diagnoses illness - different to conventional medicine
In homeopathy it is not necessary to know the name of the disease -
just the symptoms. I thought this explanation was good.
Explained below:-

DIAGNOSING ILLNESS
"This website makes use of the disease diagnosis used by conventional
medicine. Most patients who are considering medical treatment will be
aware of this diagnosis which are well known and widely used.
However, homeopaths do not use conventional disease diagnoses to
determine treatment, or to decide on a remedy for patients. Homeopathy
focuses on the individual's symptoms of illness, and on the personal
experience of the patient.
For example, arthritis is a single diagnosis, but sufferers vary
greatly in the way they experience pain. Some are worse at night, some
worse during the day. Some are better for heat, some better for cold.
Some are better for moving, others are better when completely still.
Some get relief from pressure, others cannot bear pressure. In
homeopathy it is these personalised symptoms that usually point to
the correct, or matching remedy for the individual patient.
Conventional diagnosis, whether for arthritis or any other disease,
is not important.
What this means is that Homeopathy can treat any condition, illness or
disease successfully, regardless of whether it has been diagnosed in
conventional terms, or not. In homeopathy a conventional medical
diagnosis of illness or disease is unnecessary.
This is a distinct advantage for homeopathy. Some patients are told by
conventional doctors that there is nothing that can be done without
a diagnosis, or indeed, worse still, that there is nothing wrong with
them if conventional diagnostic tests do not show an abnormality, or
indicate a specific, conventionally recognised disease.
In homeopathy, if a patient has symptoms, and if he or she can
describe them accurately, those symptoms can be treated."
